I was recently replying to a friend’s question asking for advice as she’s jumping into homeschooling for the first time. I thought sharing my answer might help someone else as well.⠀
My advice….Listen to your kids more than any book, expert or curriculum. ⠀
⠀
If it’s not working ditch it fast and keep looking until you find something that does. ⠀
⠀
Don’t feel obligated to finish curriculum, lessons, books or even a weeks perfectly laid out plan. ⠀
⠀
Relationships first. If you get out of sinc with your child and school becomes a chore or a sore spot, take a pause and do things just to nurture the relationship….no matter how long that takes. ⠀
⠀
You are in charge. ⠀
⠀
You are in charge. ⠀
⠀
You are in charge. ⠀
⠀
If you’re stumped about anything go to God first, then maybe a trusted friend. You’ll go crazy on all of the homeschooling advice. 🤣🤣 ⠀
⠀
Take breaks often. We school year around 6 weeks on and 1 week off most of the time. ⠀
⠀
Chase the sparks of your kids questions and interests over what the curriculum says to do. ⠀
⠀
Veer off course a lot 😉. ⠀
⠀
HAVE FUN!!!!!! ⠀
⠀
If you love it they will. If you hate it they will too.
