About Course

In this Basics of Botany course, your student will take a hands on approach to the study of plants, their structure, and their properties. As an introductory level course, this will be a brief overview of the very basics of Botany and the importance it holds to the world around us! Through this 9 week course, your student will work through select parts of Botany Illustrated Second Edition book, dissect different plants, flowers, and their parts, and enjoy group projects and activities! Not only will this course be a fun and exciting summer class, but it will also help prepare them for a more extensive Botany course coming in the Spring 2024 Semester!

9 Week Course (Summer 2023) June 5th- August 7th

Science Course for High School Students

Class will meet in The Woodlands, TX on Wednesdays from 9am-10:30am

Cost- $500

Textbook Provided- Botany Illustrated 2nd Edition by Janice Glemm Lacey

Course work will consist of plant dissections nearly every class, course work with coloring portion to help students visualize the course material, 1 project and group work. There will be no homework during this SUMMER Course! In order to ensure your students success in this course, classes will consist of numerous learning styles including hands on activities, group work, games, projects, and much more!

Lesson 3: Root Types with Dissection Lab

Lesson 4: Stem Structure with Dissection Lab

Lesson 5: Leaf Type and Arrangement with Dissection Lab

Lesson 6: Flowers and Their Structures with Dissection Lab

Lesson 7: Flowers Continued and Fruit with Dissection Lab

Lesson 8: Project Work Day

Lesson 9: Finish Projects and Present!
