About Course

Welcome to our exciting high school human anatomy hands-on class! In this course, students will delve into the intricate world of the human body, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its structure and function. Through interactive and engaging activities, students will have the unique opportunity to explore the systems of the body, including the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems.

Through hands-on dissections and practical experiments, students will learn about the interconnectedness of these systems and how they work together to maintain overall health.

In addition to lab work this class encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills as students explore real-life medical scenarios and discuss ethical considerations in the field of anatomy.

By the end of this course, students will not only have a profound understanding of human anatomy but also develop a deep appreciation for the wonders of the human body and its remarkable capabilities. This hands-on class is a gateway to potential careers in medicine, biology, or any other field that involves understanding the intricacies of the human form. Join us as we embark on a fascinating journey into the depths of human anatomy!

 

Course Meets Tuesdays 1-3pm for 14 weeks, September 5 through December 12.

Classes will consist of dynamic discussion centered around hands on activities and group lab work.  There will be several short quizzes throughout the term to check for understanding and 2 exams, one “midterm” and one final exam at the end.

Students should allow 1 hour of time outside of class to prepare for class discussions.  Honors students should allow more time to complete extension work.

This course fulfills 1 full year high school science credit.

Honor option available for those students who want to receive an honors credit.
